Speaking of Potlucks… Friendsgiving!

We have been hosting a Friendsgiving potluck for 7 years now. If you don’t have plans, can’t travel, or want more plans, join us at 5pm on Thanksgiving Day! Bring a dish to share and a beverage of choice. But don’t let cooking a side item stand in the way — come anyway! There’s usually plenty of food to share and we welcome your presence.

A labor of love

Our friend, Bruce, a carpenter in the UK, came to contribute his time and talents to our project for a few weeks. Upon removing the carpet in the living room, we discovered that the thick layer of carpet glue was still tacky, and couldn’t be sanded away like we had done in the rest of the house. This meant hours of hand scraping the glue off with a chisel. Bruce then skillfully patched the portions of the floor where walls once stood. It takes a keen eye to now distinguish which sections are patched, and which are original. Thank you, Bruce! We are so grateful for your contribution to the restoration of our home.

A large plywood patch hidden beneath the carpet was removed. “New” hundred year old heart pine was seamlessly installed in its place. The refinished original heart pine floors add warm color to the room.

We are happy that our home allows us to offer support to a number of community gatherings, workshops, and neighborhood meetings.
